Creative Labs Encore Board Issues

The Creative Labs Encore board does not currently support the Microsoft DirectShow API.  Thus the Interactive Screen Saver that is normally installed for Coral Sea Dreaming will not play the video clips correctly.  To correct this problem you will need to run the following program:

d:/mci/setup.exe  where d: is your DVD-ROM drive letter

Please make sure the Coral Sea Dreaming DVD disc is in your DVD-ROM drive when you run this program.  This program will install an MCI version of the screen saver program, which has fewer features than the DirectShow version.  The long-term solution to this problem is for Creative Labs to release DirectShow drivers for their DVD product line.  You can help us in this effort by completing the technical support form on the Creative Labs web site.  Be sure to ask them when they will be releasing DirectShow drivers for their DVD products.

Quadrant International Software Decoder Issues

A number of new PC's (including some Dells) include a software DVD decoder from Quadrant International.  Some versions of this software decoder may experience a "black screen" problem during playback of video clips in the DirectShow version of the Coral Sea Dreaming screen saver program.  We have made Quadrant International aware of this problem with their software, and hopefully they will release a driver update to correct the problem shortly.  If your system is displaying black screens during the playback of the Coral Sea Dreaming screen saver, we recommend you install the MCI version of the screen saver by running the following program:
